Divus Claudius, died 54. Aureus (Gold, 19 mm, 7.51 g, 6 h), Lugdunum, struck under Nero, October-December 54. DIVVS CLAVDIVS AVGVSTVS Laureate head of Divus Claudius to left. Rev. EX S C Slow quadriga right, with tensa (car) in form of a small temple, the pediment decorated with a lituus between two paterae and surmounted by four miniature horses, flanked by Victories left and right; the side and front are decorated with three figures (Virtus and two Victories?). BMC 4. Calicó 354a. CBN 1. Cohen 31. RIC 4. Very rare. Minor marks, otherwise, good fine.
